Someone in Norway has got the whole situation very, very wrong. Varg was given an extra year and a half after that ill-advised breakout - he should have been inside until 2016, and they let him out now?

Apparently it's rare for anyone to serve even as much of their sentence as Varg has, in Norway, so they've clearly been hard on him by their standards. I suspect that the Norwegian legal system is staffed by sane, decent, kind hearted people who still don't quite grasp what an irredeemable clusterfuck the whole situation was and is.

I think everyone should read the back story on this (and Mayhem) in general just because of how fucked up it all was.

The whole early nineties BM scene was one long saga of things that shouldn't have been possible in the modern era but somehow they got away with. And I freely admit I have way too much emotional investment in all of it for my own good. *wry smile*

I found my copy of that CD in a tiny record store in Wakefield when I was about nineteen or so. I was just innocently flicking through the Ms and bang, that. I literally froze for a heartbeat with a mixture of "oh my gods" and "holy shit, that's Dawn of the Black Hearts, MINE!" before I snatched it up like my life was at stake.

But, yes. That picture is definitely one of those things that you can never unsee.
