I is world's bittiest Urban Explorer.

May 06, 2012 14:46

I've always wanted to try my hand at the Urban Explorer thing. I love lonely, lost, derelict and secret places, and climbing around them with a camera sounds like awesome fun. Unfortunately, due partly to having been raised with a healthy fear of the law and therefore being a bit nervous about the whole potential-trespassing aspect, and partly to ( Read more... )

I would absolutely love to see this place used in a music video or a movie

I'm sure you can talk Ravenage into it. Throw some cans of Stones their way and before you know it there'll be a video for More Beer!

Heheheh! Maybe I'll mention it to them, at that...

I fucking love the North Yorkshire coastline. As I said before. if you ever want an all-terrain human to come with you on future escapades, count me in!

And, ah, you've just reminded me that I need to book a B&B for the Ravenage/OCR gig! ironlord, that man there, is probably intending not to drive back - and as he's coming from further away, I'd say that gives him a claim to your crash-space. I'm thinking I might make a night of it and book somewhere nearby, if I can get somewhere of course.

The crashspace issue is open to negotiation, tbh - in theory I can put up more than one person, though space would be tight if I did. Since Jim hasn't actually asked me for crashspace yet his claim is currently ranked no higher than anyone else's[1], but if you'd rather have a B&B anyway and get a proper bed that is fine with me! ;) There's also an outside chance my bff Oliver might come up from Northampton if I can drag him, and he definitely gets crashspace priority due to not having the money for accommodation.

And of course, even if you're staying in a B&B that doesn't mean you're not welcome to come and party at my place after the gig anyway! ^_^

[1]Jim? That was your cue, speak now or forever sleep on the floor... :p

Okay, duly noted. I'm veering towards - B&B but PARTY AT KIT'S ;)

Oliver - is that @hjdoom on Twitter by any chance? If so, he's bloody hilarious. That tweet about fitting in sex around the snooker made tea come out of my nose! (I was drinking tea at the time.)

FTW! So let it be written, so let it be done... And yes, that's my best mate right there. I love him but you can't take him anywhere. *grin*

Oh, and if you ever wanted to know what happens when you try and write grindcore on an iPhone, check out the most recent iteration of his solo project, but be warned, it's REALLY HORRIBLE. >.> [NSFW.]

What, the UrbEx thing? Do it! *encourages*

(Just not anywhere where you might get caught by the cops or fall through a floor, obviously. *protectivefuss!*)

*giggles* *nuzz!* I'll bring a camera with me next time I go for a walk.

(Yeah, that would generally suck. I'll avoid that. *nuzzle*)

You're right, it looks awesome. As for the broken glass, nothing half an hour with protective gloves, a stout broom and some bin bags couldn't fix. I'm surprised that there isn't more about it online - I winder how many towns have interesting bits of forgotten architecture right next to major focal points in this way?

I don't know, but it's pretty awesome, isn't it? I just wish I could use it for something!

This is great. Make the most of it before they decide to do something to it (luxury home?)

Hah, I doubt anyone would try and build a house on it - like I say, you'd be looking right over the Pavilion's incredibly uninspiring corrugated-metal roof, and every time there was a gig on there you'd go deaf. :) I do hope I'm right and it stays as it is, though - it's a lovely bit of space, and I like having it there as somewhere to get out of the way of the tourists if I want to sit in the sun...

But think of the sea view dah-ling! I wouldn'y put it past the property developers... is it listed I wonder?

Listed? Given that as far as I know it's not even mentioned on the internet, I'd be surprised if the council know they own it!

Maybe I should make some enquiries, come to think. The museum staff at Pannett Park might have some ideas of where it came from and who it belongs to...
