OH GODS DO WANT.
You know those Japanese and other Far Eastern pop/rock bands where you get pretty boys who kiss and cuddle onstage to delight their fans? Well, guess what - there really is a metal answer to EVERYTHING, and this time I don't just mean Children of Bodom...
I have literally never seen anything quite so awesome as this. Ever.
That is Swedish Black Metallers Shining, with Maniac (ex-Mayhem, yes, that Maniac) on guest vocals. And yes, that is Shining's frontman Kvarforth getting all over Maniac onstage while Maniac is a) blind drunk and b) DRESSED AS A PRIEST. Oh my gods. I don't know when or how the Black Metal scene that I grew up loving turned into this, but all I can say is HELL YES, MORE PLEASE. \m/
I love this on so many levels, seriously. Intellectually and ideologically, I love that it's two guys from the BM scene, including one who's a bona-fide legend in many people's eyes, doing something that exactly fits the scene's professed values (breaching taboos, flouting morality both Christian and mainstream, and deliberately overturning/inverting cultural norms) but that historically has been sidestepped because it offends even other Black Metallers. Emotively, I love that both of them are falling-down drunk but can still manage to not only coordinate this, but look completely and shamelessly into it (seriously, you couldn't slide a fucking credit card between them, and the bit at about 4:17 where Kvarforth wraps himself around Maniac from behind and Maniac just arches back and gives it up to him... ye gods. @_@) I love Maniac brandishing a bottle like he's about to poke himself in the eye from sheer lack of coordination. I love that the rest of the band's reactions range from nonchalance to a kind of mild "oh fuck, here we go again!" rather than anything remotely resembling concern. I love that they're not even just kissing but, if I'm seeing correctly, appear to be passing mouthfuls of red wine (or possibly blood, at the end) to each other. And I love that there's a cracking good song buried somewhere in the carnage, just to give the whole thing a bit of musical legitimacy - studio version if anyone wants to hear it. Seriously, all round, this is a thing of beauty. Not to mention of hot.
So yeah, if there is anything in the entire world that isn't better with Black Metal... this is not the day I find it, apparently. All hail Shining. \m/

EDIT: And then Koi found this, which is an absolutely awesome and completely deserved tirade from the two of them at another show, after some pussy in the audience yelled "Fuck you!" and then failed to back it up. Epic HELL YEAH to this!
