“Hmm… That’s interesting,” Yukito murmured, frowning at the mirror. A fine, thin cut diagonally across his cheek was bothering him-he couldn’t quite figure out how he’d managed a paper cut on his face.

“What’s wrong?” Touya asked, poking his head into the bathroom as he walked by. He was already running slightly late, but he wasn’t used to seeing Yukito preening.

“I have a paper cut,” Yukito replied absently, trying to figure out if a standard band-aid would even cover the length of the cut.

“On your face?” Touya called incredulously from the bedroom, where he was frantically trying to find a pair of matching socks.

“There’s a pair of socks for you on your dresser. Yes, on my face.” No, a regular band-aid would definitely not cut it.

“Thanks. That’s odd… How’d you do that?” Touya asked, standing in the doorway to the bathroom putting on his shoes.

“I’m not sure. The last time I… Oh, I think it’s from last night, when I carried that stack of papers to the dumpster for you.” If he wanted to cover the cut with the soft padded part of the band-aid, he’d need several.

“Thanks for doing that for me, by the way.” Touya disappeared from the doorway, presumably headed for the kitchen to find something to eat.

“It’s fine.” He reached into the medicine cupboard for antiseptic cream.

“Well, no, not really, because now you have a paper cut in a pretty inconvenient place.” China clinked in the background.

“It’s not that bad. I just need to put some anti-bacterial stuff on it so it doesn’t get infected, and then maybe cover it with a band-aid. If I can.” Hmm. He could’ve sworn there’d been some in here the last time…

“Hey, Yuki, where’s the-“ Yukito could hear Touya rummaging around in the pantry.

“We don’t have any more bread, you’ll have to eat cereal.” Oh, wait. Had they used it up when Touya had cut his finger chopping onions that one time…?

“Can you get some more today?” Cereal flakes clattered against the bowl, followed by a moment of silence when Yukito couldn’t hear Touya pouring milk.

“What kind?” Yes, that must have been it. There was definitely no cream left. Or band-aids, from the looks of it.

“White? Whatever’s cheapest?” Touya suggested around a mouthful of cereal.

“Okay.” He added antiseptic cream and band-aids to the mental shopping list and left the bathroom, turning out the lights behind him.

“What happened?” Touya asked, looking up from washing his breakfast dishes. “I thought you were going to come out with a line of bandages over your face.”

“We’re out,” Yukito explained, going over and taking the dishes from Touya’s hands.

“Oh, sorry. Must have been the onion incident.” He relinquished the bowl and spoon and dried his hands on the towel hanging on the oven.

“I think so.” He rinsed the dishes and stacked them on the drainer.

“I should be back by dinnertime. Do you think you can start tonight?” Touya had returned to the bedroom in search of a jacket.

“Anything in particular?” Yukito asked as he opened the freezer to inspect its contents.

“There’s the roast in the refrigerator…” Touya joined him before the appliance, wrapping his arms around Yukito’s waist.

“Um… okay, there’s a recipe somewhere, right?” Yukito asked worriedly, closing the freezer door.

“In the recipe book under ‘Meat’.” He leaned over and kissed Yukito lightly.

“I’ll see you later.”

“Wait,” Touya whispered, pulling him closer. He kissed the thin cut on Yukito’s cheek, running the tip of his tongue along its length for good measure, eliciting a contented purr from Yukito.

“You’re going to be really late,” he murmured into Touya’s neck.

“I know. Which is why I have to stop now.”

Yukito followed Touya to the door and stood in the doorway watching him bicycle away. Absently he reached up to touch his cheek.

That was extremely unsanitary.

“Good morning to you too, Yue. And unsanitary as it was, I think it just saved us some money.”

Oh?

Grinning, Yukito closed the door and returned to the kitchen. “If To-ya will do that again, and keep going… then I don’t think I really want band-aids.”
