So, everyone recommend a book for me! Or a series, I don't mind series. Any genre, any type, any anything. My only requirement is that you or someone you know enjoyed it, or at the very least found it thought provoking or worthwhile on some level.

Please?

I have quite a few you could read.

Incarnations of Immortality by Piers Anthony (Magic and technology in one world. An interesting series)

Saga of Recluce by L.E. Modesitt (very good book in which all magic is based on Order and Chaos. Has a few theories I dont' neccessarily agree with, but it's still a good series.)

Blood of The Wolf , yes it's white wolf. But it's a real attention catcher on werewolves.

The Devil's Captain, a fantastic rendition of Black Bart's history in the Carribean.

Corsair, another pirate book but has magic and all that fun stuff.

I could go on forever, you know that I read a lot. And love to be able to talk books with people.

Have you read the Kushiel series?

Yup, and I enjoyed them a good deal. Not life-altering, but definitely a good read.

How about Gregory Maguire's Wicked or Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister

Yeah, but I've been meaning to reread them; it's been a long time. You and I seem entirely too much on the same wavelength about some things :)

I rather enjoyed, and still do enjoy, the Rose of the Prophet trilogy by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Really the only thing they wrote that I first read in my high school fantasy addiction that survived the addition of anti-hack snobbery that came with college.

I dusted off my copies a few months ago and was surprised at how much I enjoyed them. They've been through hell (literally, they survived a tornado), so I'm thinking about replacing them.

Avoid the rest of their material. It's shit.

I wasn't aware that Weis/Hickman had written anything worthwhile :P I got a bit sick of their stuff working atthe bookstore, but haven't heard of this series, I'll check it out.

Ya know, in high school, I would've been offended by that remark.

There again, in high school, the Dragonlance novels were worth reading. =/

It's still hack, but it's good hack -- rare for the genre.
