Sebastian had, in fact, been watching CJ for quite some time - he'd just been fastidiously careful to stay just out of range of the Tale Sense tingle. He'd merely watched, cracking a slight smirk of sinister satisfaction any time she stumbled on a curb or got the dog leash tangled around her legs. After enough of this voyeuristic indulgence - and accepting that no true tragedy was about to spontaneously befall her to brighten his day - he decided to intervene for some more direct interaction ( ... )

Was it possible that one of the Oz Tales was a member of some sort of Asian mafia? C.J. had never met this man before - of that, she was absolutely sure - but the feeling of recognition in her gut was strong. And he clearly knew her. In fact, it almost seemed like he had been looking for her.

C.J. wasn't dense - she was on fairly good terms with most of her Tale mates, and to her knowledge, there was only one whom she had never met. The man with the Asian last name. Sebastian Han.

"Oh, hello!" She smiled at him curiously, wondering what he was doing out by himself on this February morning. "Have we met before?"

Sebastian did not return CJ's smile - in fact, upon seeing it, his own lips seemed to press more firmly together, as if to emphasize the fact that he was making no effort to be pleasant. His head tilted down slightly, suggesting that his eyeline was moving to the poodle at the end of her leash, which was growling softly in the presence of the witch. His front lip curled up briefly, as though to growl back, but the expression was short-lived.

"A rather complicated question, for those of our unique nature." He replied, his word carefully measured and still peppered with enough of an accent to make them seem even more controlled and severe. "Suffice to say that we have not been introduced in this form, but we do have a history between us." The word history received particular emphasis, and he made no further effort to introduce himself - he seemed intent on making her uncomfortable with his taciturn presence.

Glancing quickly at Prince with a concerned look upon her face, she absentmindedly put out her right hand to pet his head, attempting to calm him. How very strange - she had never known him to be an angry dog. In fact, she was quite certain that this was the first time she'd ever seen him growl.

Because of this, C.J. was partially distracted as Sebastian spoke. Not that it particularly mattered, since what he said was far from straightforward.

C.J., however, was not the riddling type. If her parents had taught her anything, it was to be forthright with other people. She simply knew no other way.

"You're Sebastian, is that right? Sebastian Han?" After all, it was only fair that they should be on equal terms when it came to knowing each other's name.
