The hat is delivered in a small hatbox, with the following letter:

Dear Ms. Miranda,

In recent correspondence, I explained that I would be a valuable resource to you, capable of accomplishing any task set before me. Demonstrating your natural business savvy, you requested that I prove my abilities with a surprise. As such, I present to you the enclosed token of my loyalty: the fedora of Al Capone, as worn during the height of his reign. Please do not ask me how I obtained it, but know that it is a mere sample of my talents.

I don't expect to be Made on the merits of this token alone, but know that I am at your disposal, and the disposal of the Miranda Family. In fact, some investigation into my own lineage shows that the Miranda and Varletti families were once closely intertwined in Sicily, and that there is a strong chance we are distant cousins.

Sincerely,
Murdock Varletti

The hat, of course, is no relic - its not even a passable forgery. It appears to be made of synthetic materials, and a frayed hem can be found where he cut off the 'Made in China' tag. Furthermore, there would be no actual record of a Varletti family in the Old Country.

Gotta give him props for trying, though.

annalisa miranda, murdock varletti
