Unbelievable but true: I have a job. Well, temporarily, and only part time (70%), but a job nevertheless! Even though I have repeatedly stated that I didn't want to do any teaching, I find myself teaching Dutch to college students who are trained to be teachers in elementary schools from the beginning of November until Christmas. I'm a bit ( Read more... )

Wooo look at her, all employed and stuff. You'll be awesome - just remember, it doesn't matter if you are momentarily awkward, you are still the cleverest one in the room. Actually I had a question about workstuff, but you took off to hang around with elephants. You did an internship at a publisher, yes? Am I completely making this up? Am I embarrassingly confusing you with your sister? Children's books? HOW DID YOU GET THAT. I seriously don't get how Belgian people get internships unless the KUL has a careers service that will do me no good.

Jealous of your concert, jealous, jealous. I love that Russian music video.

Lost in Austen makes me sad and upset. I told myself to relax and accept it for what it was but just, no. Doesn't work. HER HAIR KLJ no. To be fair, I missed the end of the first episode and gave up after that, but can everyone just watch Miss Austen Regrets instead please. (Who is gay though? Is it Charlotte Lucas? If it isn't, I am more depressed about this show than I ever was.)

You got it right! I have done an internship at a publisher's of children's books as a part of my master in cultural studies. Did bits of this and that, translating, editing, revising, website updating and archive organising; you know, *stuff*. I sort of applied there, saying "Hi! How would you like to have someone who hangs around here and does stuff for free?", an idea they found really interesting. So, if you ever have too much time on your hands (are Cambridge students still familiar with that concept?) you should definitely address publishers and ask if you could work there for free, work experience and all. And after two months or so, you can suggest that they pay you in the future or something.

Haha, it's not Charlotte Lucas. Although I think she really was gay. No, it's actually Caroline Bingley (big surprise THERE). Lost in Austen wasn't as horrible as one might imagine, but I guess it grows on you. fjkffdkl THE HAIR is GHASTLY.

That is awesome - sort of what I was planning to do with Davidsfonds in Leuven. (What's work experience in Dutch? Werkervaring? Do they even have that concept.) Totally enterprising of you, though, impressive! And what we have is basically - no sleep or rest or weekends in term time, but long holidays, because holidays are for work experience/interships/reading/making money/curing cancer/all of the above.

crying, what. i guess it's not directly opposed to the plot... many reasons for her to want to marry darcy even if he wasn't a sexpot. but still. way to overlook charlotte lucas, the prime lesbian candidate for jane austen.

I think Charlotte's fate was already deemed bad enough, since she moves off to freaking Africa. Yeah, that's right. Africa.
