Aw, this was lovely. I loved reading about Rice Day, and getting to see the psychological toll that all the events took on the officers.

Thank you -- that was something that interested me too as something to explore in a fic, probably because I took the loss of Vulcan pretty hard myself in the theater. /TNG kid

that was. so lovely. I'm so picky about post-movie fics, it's a really hard tone to capture! But you got the verse so perfectly, Chekov trying to lose himself/prove himself in his job, but Sulu ~saving him from that~, them saving each other ;__; also i really really loved the description of Sulu's face, haha, that was a great way of showing how attractive Chekov found him before chekov even really realized it :3 this was very sweet and touching ;__;

I don't think I've written a really-close-to-the-movie story before, in terms of timeline and plot and stuff, and those are actually my favorite kind of stories! So when _justwords_ gave me free rein, I very belatedly jumped on the opportunity. Yes about ~noticing Sulu's face~ -- one of my favorite things about pre-relationship fics is seeing these hints of feelings just beginning to bloom. ;_;

oh my god...this is INCREDIBLE writing...i just... wow. this is so good, and so deep and full of emotion and sadness. There's a tendency, with this movie, and i think in sci fi in general, to sort of gloss over the implications, but you really bring the tragedy of that days events right to the surface, and make it immediate and accessible for us. Also the anecdote about Rice day... wow. So so good and poignant. I'm saving this and for the moment being, this is my personal cannon for how these boys got together.
