Favorite Movie I Saw in Theaters
Star Trek
THIS MOVIE. GAH. I tend to overuse words like 'awesome' and 'epic' but this film was definitely worthy of being called such. Beautiful visuals, music, and people! Great drama, comedy, and action too!
Favorite Movies I Saw for the First Time in 2009
Amelie
Such an adorable, quirky story with a lot of heart.
The Philadelphia Story
I can't believe it took me this long to see this film. But I guess it's because I'm not a big Katharine Hepburn fan. I am a big Jimmy Stewart fan, however, and him playing drunk is one of the most adorable things I've ever seen.
The Thin Man
Another of those "I can't believe it took me this long!" films. Brilliant, witty dialogue, with such a fun couple. Gotta love lanky brunettes with wicked jaws.
Favorite Albums Released in 2009
With bonus Lady Gaga Bad Romance video images!
Favorite Season Finale (Spring)
The Office: 5x26 - Company Picnic
Episodes of The Office that take place outside of the office are usually pretty hit and miss, and while the volleyball game storyline was just filler, the real stories in the finale are the reunion of Michael and Holly, and that last moment in the exam room with Jim and Pam, which was filmed beautifully. The audience was unable to hear the dialogue, yet knew exactly what was happening from just their faces.
Favorite New Show (Fall)
Glee
This show is really cute. The storylines are sometimes a little out there, and there's been some plot holes, but it's a fun little show with singing and dancing. What's not to love?
Favorite Returning Show
The Big Bang Theory
This show is a geek's dream. With references to some of my favorite sci-fi and fantasy, it takes everyday situations, like Raj on a date, or Sheldon learning how to drive, and makes them absolutely absurd. I mean, Howard got the Mars Rover stuck in a ditch on Mars while trying to impress a girl he met at the bar! This show is gold.
Favorite TV Movies
Alice (SyFy)
HATTER HATTER OMG HATTER. This aired only last week, and it's my new favorite thing. Just like with Tin Man, it's a reimagining of a classic story, but completely twisted (and let's face it, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was already kind of twisted). Alice is a martial arts instructor, the Queen of Hearts owns a casino that drains good feelings out of people and bottles them for sale, and Hatter decides to fight for the Resistance against the Queen.
Emma (BBC)
Emma is far from my favorite Jane Austen novel, but I get excited whenever new adaptations come out so I was looking forward to this one. It took me awhile to warm up to it, and while it wasn't perfect, it was entertaining and visually beautiful.
Favorite Books I Read in 2009
Favorite Sports Moment of 2009
Pittsburgh Steelers Win the Super Bowl for the Sixth Time
I'll just latch onto this and forget that this season even happened. *clings*
Favorite Celebs of 2009
Misha Collins
I actually don't watch Supernatural, but I follow him on Twitter and he's so hilarious and he really loves his minions. The pics he post become iconic, especially that bottled yogurt one.
Lady Gaga
It took awhile for me to admit that I love her. She's sooooo out there, that it was almost embarrassing to admit I was a fan of her music. But I finally said, "Meh, she doesn't care what people say about her, so I won't care what people say about me for liking her." Of course, that happened around the time her epic Bad Romance video came out, and now everyone loves her, so it's not like I'm alone, lol.
Jim Parsons
The Big Bang Theory wouldn't be the same without him. I love watching him being interviewed on Craig Ferguson, because they play off each other well. Oh, and he was ROBBED of that Emmy. And why the hell wasn't he nominated for a Golden Globe? This is a travesty.
Chris Pine
He is so. flippin'. HOT. OMG those eyes! And the voice! I never thought it would be so hot to see someone get beaten up so much, but he made it hot. Oh yeah, and he's really talented too. ;)
Karl Urban
Gah, I love him. He's like the jock in high school who secretly played D&D on weekends two towns over. In other words, he's gorgeous, and he'd rather play characters in armor riding horses, or flying on spaceships and dealing with aliens, than be a serious, dramatic actor. And that is why he's awesome. :D
