OMG was it not TO DIE FOR?!?!?!!

And if you wanna give your dad something else to chew on, tell him that in TOS-- Uhura and SPOCK were SUPPOSED to hook up (no kisses between Kirk and Uhura) but since it would have been TV's FIRST EVER interracial kiss, the only way the network (and it's advertisers) would allow it is that Shatner threw all his weight into making sure the STATEMENT was still there, if not the actual original participants. Thus, he got to mack on Nichelle. Lucky Bastard. Both of them.

Anywhoo...I'm loving that THIS KIRK is the new whipping boy (and man, would I love to do THAT whipping!)

Ha, yes! I can't stop thinking about it! I loved all the characters and I want more right now!

I think it's becoming a new trend in Hollywood for the hero to get his ass kicked and still win the day. Isn't that what they did when they brought in the new James Bond?

OMG Right? I thought the movie was going to be shit frankly (and who can blame me they were rebooting a series that has had nothing but mediocre to crap films for the last decade

but no, no they decided to be awesome and for that I shall always love JJ.

Plus Spock/Uhura are my OTP now because...OMG SO AWESOME!

I know what you mean. I got into a bit of a tiff with some friends over Spock/Uhura (hardcore Trekkies don't like change) and all I could think the whole time was "OMG YAY I LOVE THEM!"

I mean, the first time I watched it the beginning bit when Uhura "insisted" that she was assigned to the Enterprise and Spock said "Yes I believe you are" all I thought was 'he's afraid of her' the second time (knowing they were together) I thought 'awwwwww'.

I can't help it, I love to have pairings to ship (I'm a hopeless romantic everything I watch has to have a ship) so they couldn't have made me happier.

Coming into it and knowing they were together from the start gave me a different perspective. Like when he said he didn't want to play favorites I was all, "Oh, b/c you're banging, right?" ;)

I'm the same way; I have to ship everything b/c I heart the romance in stories so. Usually I find that I stick to canon pairings though. Like 90% of the time. Not sure what that says about me.

I'm so eager to see this and I'm not even a Trekkie! If only I can find a baby sitter.

I keep hearing such good things about the casting and it sounds awesome.

Haha, yes! I've been checking those out even before I saw the movie, but I'll check again; I may have missed a few. Alas, I am out of icon spaces so some oldies will have to go to make room.

Karl Urban. OMGYES. My sexy Eomer was such a kick ass grumpy gills. "I may throw up on you." "Are you out of your Vulcan mind?" "Damn it, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a physicist!" and my fave, "Good God, man!" Reminds me of Dr. Ball M.D. too, lol.

He rocked this roll! He really nailed the character and made his own. I am so attracked to this man since his LoTR days but even more now.

I totally wanted to be Uhura and mack on Spock. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? Quinto's a cutie but not so much as Spock. Loved the eyebrow raise he did as Kirk, Pike, and Sulu were leaving. Oh, and my dad totally went, "Harold!" when he first saw Sulu. :P

I love the ship! He's a hottie:D I love the eyebrow raise we need more eyebrow raising.

Chehov was adorable. "The Planet Wulvan." Ha! "I CAN DO THAT! MOVE! I CAN DO THAT! I CAN DO THAT!"

I love that line. Chehov is the best! and the cutest thing ever.

Scotty! OMG, Simon Pegg's accent was incredible! I wanted to be his BFF for srs. He and Bones were my fave characters. Like, every line of Scotty's was gold. "Are ( ... )

My dad said he thought Karl looked younger now than he did in LOTR. I was like, "Well he's not covered in dirt and really tanned now, of course you think he looks younger." Personally, I think he looks about the same. He has aged well. :)

Well, it's not really a parallel universe. That would suggest it was happening at the same time as another universe w/ the same people. An alternate universe means that the established course of events was changed, which is why we have old Spock and Young Spock. :)
