This is what he gets for being curious. 'Hey, looks like Des is having a dream! Let's check it out!'
NEVER. AGAIN.
...
But okay. He's a little concerned.]
Desmond? What was all that?
Reply
It's kinda of touching that so many people shows concern for him and deep inside, Desmond is content to see Flynn amongst them. Bro forever, dude. Still, the bartender can't seem to bring himself to be honest with the other man, and he shrugs, trying to make light of the dream]
Nothing, 'Gene. Just bad Mexican food before I got to bed.
[Feel free to call him on his bullshit]

Hey. No amount of bad food puts that amount of nightmare fuel into a single dream. This will probably keep me up a few nights, Des. What kind of place do you come from?
[Well, part of it is a lie because Gene is a big boy and can handle his shit, but it is true that some of those images bothered him enough to pose the question. He knows a little something about the darkness that stems from working outside of the law and he'd sensed it, a kindred spirit sort of feel, in Desmond. But if that dream was any indication, the other man was likely into something way more serious than what Flynn was used to.
Talking always helps with these sorts of things. Indulge him?]

[If Desmond is apologizing for lying there or for scaring the hell out of Flynn, it's up to the thief to decide.
The bartender shrugs lightly]
Oh, you know. The normal kind of place. The usual struggle between good and evil and the secret war over ruling mankind. That sort of place.
[Sorry buddy. He's not used to open up to people. You'll have to get him to trust you more before he starts spilling stories here.]

[Hey, you want your privacy you just say so aight? He's a thief and he's not exactly who he says he is all the time. He totally gets it and will gladly give you your space.
And now a grin] Maybe getting all that bad food out of your system is what you should've done first.

And then he makes a face, though his eyes lights up with amusement]
Now, I'm not entirely sure I want to know what you'd suggest in order to do that....

The way I see it, there are only two ways for that junk to get the hell out of there: Up or down. Take your pick.

Oh for Christ's sake, Gene, that's just down right disgusting. I just think next time I'll drown the hot peppers in more beer. That way it should be better, no?

[mischievous expression is just getting bigger here. Sorry, man, but you asked for it.]

Well, you know, unlike you, I do hold my liquor well.
Reply
It's not only the liquor you'll have to contend with, Des. Just sayin'.

I still can handle it better than you, trust me.
[He's worked in bars ever since he was of age. Do you know how many gorgeous women, old drunks or desperate cougars paid him shots and drinks in his life? Probably more than you can count.]

[you are living one of his dreams, Des-bro]

Well, do try to not over-sell yourself, or else you'll put the expectations too high. And the trick is to pace yourself.
[He's not complaining either.]
Reply
Desmond, Desmond, dear, dear Desmond. When are you going to learn that the expectations are never too high wherever Flynn Rider is concerned? [he is above you mere mortals that way] Thanks for the tip though, I'll be sure to keep that in mind.
Reply
I suppose it's a good thing then that I have no idea who this Flynn Rider is, Eugene.
[Desmond thinks he can guess who that is, but really, why the need for an alias, 'Gene?]
