[3] - Written (Angst)

I am no longer a human being. This place has robbed me of my last remnants of humanity. I am no better then the creature. No better at all.

Why would this be forced upon me? The dead must stay dead. How can no one here know this?

[Aww, since Frankenstein was brought back from the dead he doesn't believe he's a proper person anymore. :C]

fmylife, what is this madness, barge is ruining me, dead stay dead, creatures are bad, angsty pants

No. Creature most unnatural, I have no intention of joining the ranks of something even fouler then the mockery of a human being that I have become.

Leave me be, and go back to the pit from whence you came.

[Victor has tried to write something, but scribbled it out so it's unreadable.]

What are you? [Almost but not quite incomprehensible.]

Pulmonary resuscitation is frequently done, Victor. Your body has simply been restored to a state of health from a grievous injury. You are still very much human, and a man.

[Her tone, while chastising, is more amused.]

Oh, don't be daft. You're still human. You're not even really dead.

There's not much sport in prodding him. He's far too easy a mark.

But it's so boring here - I need to take what sport I can get.

Do you breathe? Do you eat? Can you feel anger, sadness, fear? Do you long for home...for family...for friends?

Then you are still alive.

These things are no measure of true life. They are merely shadows of it, a puppet moving on strings instead of a fully fledged man.

Those things are lost to me, regardless.

Then what is your measure for life?

Humanity, of course. Whether one is born by natural means, and remains so during their life, not to be brought back from the dead and subvert the will of nature.

Cease your whining. Do you think it is life that binds you to humanity? What of your intentions? Your soul?

This existance here is by all matters unnatural, but you are still human. This is one place where such things cannot be changed so easily.

Life is what makes us human. Once it is taken from us, we are nothing. Only mockeries of the men we once were.

To be unnatural is to not be human. It can be changed, and has been.

Perhaps, monsieur, you are correct. Once bereft of life a man cannot possibly linger.

Of course, such stipulations only would matter if this were reality. Certainly you must have grasped what this place is yet? The people, the food, the technology? These are things that surely must not exist and yet here they are in front of you, people sharing your company at mealtimes and speaking to you now over this communication device. When you wake up tomorrow morning will you not clean your face? Pleasure yourself like all men do? Appeal to your vanity by combing your hair?

Remember and cherish your humanity, Victor. You will miss it when it is truly gone. There are far worse things you could be changed into.

What to these things matter? They mean nothing! They are the small, mundane tasks which mean little. Higher principles have been compromised in this place. It does not matter whether it was a small infringement or a large! Whatever the case, humanity has been stolen, and it shall not return.
