as well as feral dog genes i'd think, or at least introduce variety within dogs by breeding other breeds in. With ash, we sorta suspect he's a white snauzer/westie mix, but he seems to have charecteristics of other breeds as well, some of which make little sense (i swear the wee thing has got herding instincts.. and the tendancy to headbutt ;p)
quite. i'd rather a smart dog with a personality, than some breed standard perfect thing thats gonna get sick and suffer- and unlike humans, the poor dears never had a chance. I'd point out docking (poor ash has a little stump of a tail cause of that- he's a mutt, and they wouldn't have had any logical reason for that) and cropping as another case of humans being dumb
Lol.. this is just as bad as ppl going "hey, let's breed our kids and let them have cute babies".
Nuts =_=
I think some of these practices are rampant in Singapore too. I once adopted an abused silky terrier and her tail was docked and her ears were cut to have that perky sharp look. It was seriously gross and sick I tell you.
Personally i think dogs should be left natural (<3 tails!) other than the occational haircut (without which most modern floofy dogs would have tangles and suffer). docking is kinda outmoded- it used to be for working dogs- and the only mice ash will chase are probably toys (he's shown no interest in real ones other than curiosity. he'd rather hunt down coconuts and balloons ;p). ear cropping.. i can't think of any reason for it

I think I read somewhere that the best course of action may be to reintroduce wolf blood to the breeding lines.
