This image got stuck in my head so I had to write it so - further to the story and our discussion on Tim and Zach’s relationship. There was a clearing a little way from the main hospital tent - far enough away to get some peace but not so far that people couldn’t find you if needed ( ... )

Oh my. I am tearing up here. The whole thing was great but that last line just killed me. In a good way.

There is going to be more of this series. I am terrible.

I was about to whine about having to walk really far in this heat. But then I found a gorgeous bookshop and everything is okay ^___^

Wow, this is just *amazing*. Such powerful emotional currents throughout, with the gradually building sense of mystery and the sense of greater forces just beyond the veil, all the way to the climactic scene with Baron Samedi himself.

Having to dress up as Death to sooth a dying woman, having to take the dead child in his arms, and then carry the child's soul into the afterlife...it must all be tremendously traumatic for Zach. I love Tim's gentle love and care of him and Anita's matter-of-fact way of dealing with it all.

I'd really like to list this on the Heroes in Haiti page as a sequel to "Relief". Would you mind?

Thank you so much. I'm really glad to hear that it all came across so well and that you liked it.

I have been pretty awful to my favourite characters so far, but I think Zat will be okay. And it's good to hear that Tim and Anita were liked too.

Feel free! I'd be proud to have it listed there with the rest of the great fics.

Thanks for the lovely response :)

This is a wonderful culturally sensitive tale of life lived in all it's horror after a disaster. Thank you for showing the other side of rescue, that sometimes it's not saving the body that's all important. Loved the relationship between Zat and Tim, not familiar w/ it but loved the way you showed them caring for one another.
Thank you for sharing this.

I am so relieved to read the words 'culturally sensitive' because not knowing much about Haitian culture I struggled really hard making sure it didn't seem ignorant, so thank you for letting me know I did okay!

Thanks for the lovely comment, I'm glad you liked it :)
