aravistarkheena, I hope some Tim/Miss Martian fluff makes you feel a little bit better! Sorry if I don't write a good Megan, I don't know her very well, only that she is awesome.
Tim was sitting at his desk, trying to catch up on some missed schoolwork when a knock on the door startled him. He recalled Cassie telling him that no one was going to be at the Tower that night, so he quickly put on his mask and made sure his bo staff was within reach as he pulled open the door. It was Megan, she looked slightly sleep-rumpled and was smiling nervously. Tim tried to smile back, but from the way her eyebrows came together in a slight frown he figured it had been more of a grimace.
"Miss Martian, I wasn't aware you were at the Tower tonight," Tim used a brusque, Robin-tone.
Megan's smile wavered. Tim felt guilty and stepped aside, allowing her into the room.
"Oh, I'm sorry if I surprised you, I've been here for a while now," she trailed off at the end of her sentence, leaving something unsaid.
"Couldn't sleep?" Tim took a guess.
"Pretty much yeah," she smiled again, more confidently, "I was wondering if you wanted to come watch a DVD with me?"
The tone of her voice left something unspoken again, and Tim properly looked at her. Although her pajamas were crumpled, her hair wasn't messed up like it would be if she had actually slept, her body language was tense and she almost looked as though she had been crying. Tim wondered what had upset the usually cheery girl.
"Yeah, I'd like that Megan," Tim replied, using a lighter tone.
She grinned happily, some of the tension eased from her shoulders and Tim found himself smiling back warmly. He quickly packed away his work and went to leave, but found Megan blocking his way, frowning again.
"What is it Megan?" Tim asked worriedly.
"Are you going to watch a movie dressed like that?" She asked him incredulously, looking pointedly at the Robin costume he was still wearing, despite the fact it was two in the morning.
"Well, what if I need to go out and save the world?" he asked back, a wry grin on his face.
She had scoffed back and gently prodded him back into the room. When she made no move to leave, Tim made no move to get undressed. She had laughed softly and turned around to dig through his drawers for sweat pants and a t-shirt, throwing them at him as she found them. He quickly stripped off and changed, pausing with uncertainty, when Megan noticed she rolled her eyes, smiled and softly tapped her finger against her temple.
"Right, mind reader," Tim said as he peeled off the mask and put it on his desk.
Megan smiled again, deeming him ready and held out her hand for him. They walked towards the rec room hand in hand, like it was the most natural thing in the world and Tim felt a strange warmth in his chest.
When they reached their destination, Tim sat down on the couch and wriggled around until he was comfortable whilst Megan picked out a movie. She chose a comedy, which Tim was thankful for, he hated watching action movies, Exploding Explosions made his head hurt. After Megan set up the DVD, she paused, frowned thoughtfully and then bounced out of the room.
"Be right back," she called as she left.
Tim shifted awkwardly, the loose fabric hanging uncomfortably on his body, he sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
"Okay, now we're good to go," Megan returned, smiling broadly and carrying a plate of chocos and two glasses of milk.
Tim smiled as he saw the chocos and chuckled.
"What?" Megan mumbled around a cookie.
"Just thinking," Tim replied, Megan motioned for him to continue, "Martian Manhunter loved those cookies too, when I met Blue Beetle, he told me about the time he and Booster Gold had taken all the oreos in the town. He said J'onn had nearly killed them."
"Wow," Megan laughed, "I don't love them that much."
Tim smiled at her. Megan offered him a cookie as she sat down and he munched on it thoughtfully.
----------------------------------
By the time the movie finished Megan was asleep, lying against Tim, his arm slung around her shoulders, absently stroking her hair. The plate of cookies had been devoured long ago. Tim ruffled Megan's hair lightly in order to wake her, and she mumbled something intelligible and curled against him.
"Wake up sleepy head," Tim whispered.
"Don't wanna," Megan replied lazily.
"Come on," Tim pushed her off himself gently, "let's get you to bed."
Megan grumbled at him, but allowed Tim to pull her up and lead her to bed. Her arm linked through his and her body pressing against his side.
When they reached her room Tim pulled back the covers for her and turned to leave as she sat down on her bed.
"Stay?" Megan whispered, barely audible.
"Hmm?" Tim inquired.
"Stay for a little bit?" she was louder this time, but the nerves could still be heard, "I have trouble sleeping."
Tim looked at her thoughtfully, finally understanding the invitation to watch a movie and the way she had looked when she had first walked into his room. He understood the nightmares.
"Okay," he smiled warmly, "but don't tell Cassie, I'll never hear the end of it."
Megan laughed softly and they both crawled into her bed. Tim slipped his arm around her shoulder again and she snuggled into his side, her head resting on his chest. She looked up at him cautiously, a question in her eyes and he smiled down at her.
She shifted slightly and moved so her lips were millimeters from his, her eyes searching his face, unsure. Tim only smiled again, and softly pressed his lips against hers. Megan warily deepened the kiss, Tim smiling still as her tongue darted against his. It was a soft, tender kiss, unlike any other kiss Tim had had. It wasn't desperate or passionate or teasing or anything like a kiss between two lovers. It was like a hug from a best friend. Warm and safe and close and soft.
Tim held her tightly, as she laid whispered kisses across his face. He licked his lips, Megan tasted just like milk and cookies.
