For the record I'm not saying this fic (or its author) is racist. I think it's a perfectly defendable Eames voice. What I'm saying is that the other racism wank was clearly more about how people didn't want casually-racist!Eames in their fluffy happy Arthur/Eames fic, than it was about people actually caring about racism in fandom and fanfic.

I sort of agree, but also think that it was not exactly a fluffy happy A/E fic and people simply didn't want a borderline unlikeable Eames.

Idk, is Jap something modern-day Brits say? It's sounds like something a mid-20th century American would say. I can buy the "Japanese can't gamble" thing because it's bland enough to fit anywhere.

OFFS. Racism being an asshole trait, many assholes are racist. Making a character racist doesn't necessarily mean the author condones it, either - another subtlety lost on SF diehards. Write your own damn fic if you don't like it.

There are a couple, not going to mention them, when I see people interpreting a scene in a shippy way I feel the urge to get snippy and ask them if they're fucking blind or stupid and just don't get it, it's never going to happen, and no, your ship isn't so much better than all those other ships that get so much more screen time, and boy am I ever so glad your ship doesn't get more screentime if this is the reaction we get every fucking time, oh they're so cute, he's so in lurv with her. NO HE'S NOT.

But then I think of the mother of all shipwars I'd probably unleash, and it's not worth it, what if people ship something I don't see? What if they want it to be canon, or think it's going to be canon and I disagree. Whatever, live and let live. And then I don't do or say anything.

And that, is what goes through my mind every single time I see people squeeing over a ship I don't get. I bet people don't suspect a thing, that there is this crazy wanker lurking deep inside this apparently easy going person.

I ship almost every pairing in my fandom to some degree (I can see how the couples could be having sex if not in love) but some romantic ships perplex me.

LOL, you are not a wanker, if you were, your filter wouldn't work, and you would spew all the venom, but that's what the filter is for, it filters all the venom with logic so that you don't go around getting into flamewars every time someone disagrees with you.

I don't get most rivalships. Sometimes I do, but most of the time I just look at the screen and see two characters that can't stand each other and wonder what everyone in the fandom is thinking.
