Peaks and Valleys Universe: Let's iron out the kinks anonymous September 25 2013, 10:02:02 UTC
I dunno if anyone's still interested in talking about this, but let's give it a shot.

Did we have enough consensus to start codifying stuff yet? For those of you who haven't seen these threads, Peaks and Valleys is meme's homegrown D/s universe idea. The basic premise is:

Rule 0: Humans experience cycles lasting between one and three weeks, at the peak of which they are dominant and toppy, and in the valley of which, they are submissive.

Previous threads for reference:

[I think we can start coming to a consensus about the rules of the universe. Cut for length.]I reread the old threads, and summarized some of the ideas from them... )

If there's that much disagreement on chemical suppressants (clearly there were anons who both really liked the idea and really hated the idea in the previous thread), the logical thing might be not to worry about being too prescriptive about them at this stage of playing with the idea. People are going to come up with their own variants on the 'official' rules in no time flat regardless. I'd suggest going with something like, "chemical suppressants, if they exist at all, probably have complicated side effects of various kinds, which make them even at best a less-than-ideal solution". Requiring them all to be ineffective and have embarrassing side-effects seems to me to be going a step too far.

Full disclosure: this anon really wants to see some of the ideas in that thread which required the function-with-side-effects variety of suppressants to come about

And on reflection, I'd probably tack on an additional "and at worst, useless, over-priced snake oil that messes you up worse than the original peak/valley cycle ever did", just for emphasis that the at-best scenario really was to be taken as at best only.

OP

That works for me!

Although I'd still like to avoid angst-baity side effects. Maybe the side effects can be like... a gross skin rash and uncontrollable flatulence.

AYRT

It IS shorter and sweeter, isn't it? Someone in the old threads said it sounded like it was about bicycles.

We could probably vote on it at some point.
