ITA re: Disney and gloriously colourful icons. I am actually on a bit of a Disney kick at the moment, in fact. As you can see.

Hey, thanks for linking to the "Meetings on the Stair" essay! dduane October 11 2008, 10:37:25 UTC
I'm delighted you liked it. It's even nicer to see it recommended to people.

One thing, though? Diana Wynne Jones didn't write it. ;) So you might want to correct the attribution.

(Please don't sweat it, though; people mix me up with Diana all the time. Which is kind of flattering, because she's terrific.)

Good lord, I didn't even notice that misattribution myself :) I did know you were the one who wrote it, my fingers must just have been on some kind of autopilot independent of my brain. Apologies! I'll fix that right away.

And I'll take the opportunity to thank you emphatically for writing the essay; it's been carefully saved and is sitting in a Word document on my desktop, such is the impact it had on my consciousness and convictions when it comes to the power of imagination.

:) Just delighted that you liked it. Every now and then I hit one out of the park, and that essay seems to be one of the homers.

Absolutely! I think all of us who keep returning to the spectulative genres and their characters know, on some level, that there's something of tremendous worth pulling us back. It was wonderful to find the reasons for that worth so well articulated -- now I have something to point to and say look, there, that's why this is important.
