I... I'm not familiar with ancient writers, and definitely know very very little about foreign writers...

You didn't learn that at school?
I wasn't sure who Nabokov was either, until I saw that he wrote Lolita, but Joyce is very well known, like Proust. :)

You should definitely read Lolita by Nabokov and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by Joyce. ;)

I haven't heard of Lolita, A portrait of the Artist, Proust and Joyce. Yeah, I'll definitely read them when I'm free.
