Maybe they should use the stairs.

elevator was probably the first mode of transportation they saw on the way...

Oh, I have no objection to them taking the elevator, from a moral standpoint or anything.

It just sounds like they're outmatched. :P

i think it has more to do with not bothering with minor details of the world around them....it's the scientific approach :)
