i don't understand it

my tolerance thermometer for socializing in bloomington gets hot and bothered SO MUCH QUICKER than it does in asheville. in btown, even with various peoples that i really really love, i see them once or twice a week, and i'm good. in asheville, i need so much less interval time between folks. what is it about north carolina people that's so bloody ( Read more... )

interesting, this post... i've been feeling the same way recently. i spent a good amount of time in the Asheville bar scene, back before nephews and sibling's significant others and in-town family and the like.. and i have, as of late, begun to revert back to the down home goodness of pure and sober interaction.... as such, what was once an alluring double shot of whiskey in a crowded club now seems to me to be one more intoxicating (both literally and figuratively) way to dumb myself down. those creature comforts - the ones we forget about in periods of endless parties and "what did i say last night?" morning-after conversations - come back round to us and we remember that we are, at our very core, joyful people with little need for that fast and loose lifestyle. of course (of course!) ice cream parties are just as attractive to us as a tall glass of party juice is to a college freshman. We are homemakers at the heart, and our most basic happiness is derived not from the slurred conversation with "that guy" (what was his name?) at ( ... )

i'm glad we're in a similar place, darlin. we should see more of one another, before we both go galavanting off into the sunrises and sunsets of the world. (though you seem to be about to do that sooner than i, and good for you!)
it feels good to wake up from that previous world, and find so much worth embracing. *sigh*
