The Reckoning by
Kelley Armstrong My rating:
4 of 5 stars**Kindle Read**
I kept trying to put this book down, but I think that I read it in the span of only a few hours. I had to know how they got out of all of this and I had to know who Chloe was going to end up with. lol.
Amazing little trilogy and I can't wait to see what happens next year with what seems to be a companion trilogy(?) "Darkness Rising". I need to catch up on a couple of her "Women of the Otherworld" books as well.
There were many more twists and turns with this one, and worries of who to trust. We also get to see their powers evolving and get glimpses of exactly what they are all capable of.
I still found Simon to be kind of annoying, but sweet. I always liked Derek. Chloe grew on me a bit more, and Tori actually became likable. (SHOCK!)
I would love to see Derek and Chloe (at least going to live with the pack). Clayton (especially) is such an intellectual and it would be good for Derek to be with other werewolves who were like him in temperament as well as condition. Plus with Clayton's unusual turning/childhood that would be good for Derek to be able to kind of relate. Plus, yet again, the parallels between Derek/Chloe and Jeremy/Jamie.
I miss the wolves. haha. I have a feeling that we will at least see more of Derek, Chloe, Simon, Tori and the others, because Armstrong always has a lovely way of combining all her characters even when she shifts focus. When she does shift focus, she also does not fall victim to the irritating problem of having a supporting character go from awesome to lame as soon as the focus is on them as a main character. If anything, they become better for their time in the spotlight.
If you're unfamiliar with her adult series, this might be a good stepping stone to get a taste of the world she's created.
