Fish Out of Water by
MaryJanice Davidson My rating:
2 of 5 starsI'm just meh about this one. The last one was a little better, but I probably would have given it 3 stars. I don't even remember at this point what rating I actually did give that one. I like her Betsy books (and Betsy is a much better thought out/executed character than Fred), but I also think the Betsy books have gone on rather long. I wish she would write more of the Wyndham werewolves, but there was only that ONE book and some short stories.
I have only read books 2 and 3 out of this trilogy, but I don't really see a reason to go back for 1.
I am almost tempted to go back and re-read book 2 since I am not sure whether I am misremembering Thomas' relationship with the other mermaid. From what I remembered things were settled there with the love triangle and it was just left for Fred to accept Artur.
It was just a bit unsatisfactory.
Of course, then I never quite clicked with Fred as a protagonist. (Nor do I understand why people are her friend or want to be with her.) She's basically a prickly bitch with some hellish mood swings where she actually seems like a different person.
It (and book 2) passed the time, but I wouldn't recommend either.
