here come the drums, here come the drums!

I could write this post with a great deal more ease if I could think about other things besides how wretchedly hot it is, the sort of thick, moist summer heat that turns my stomach and clings like plastic wrap to my skin. I took a shower in the middle of the afternoon, when I came home from the library: this is a thing that I never do. Currently I ( Read more... )

*sigh* Now I want a giant cookie with ice cream on.

*giggles* You don't have to get rid of your communities, you know; I don't know if you have the LJ topbar (whatever it's called) but you have the option to just view journals, or just communities, or even the journals from a particular friends filter. I'm sure there's a way to do this without the LJ bar, but it's very convenient.

But oh, GOD! Isn't this heat just appalling?? I started a post stating how I died a sticky, horrible, deathy death from the heat, but my brain was too melted to think of anything else to post. Woe. During Winter I think, there can be nothing worse than this horrible cold! And then Summer comes, and laughs in my face. Bleh.

I rather do like long car rides, but--only if certain conditions are met, which it sounds like they quite weren't here. Like, I've only been unfortunate enough to ride for a longish time in a vehicle without AC a few times in semi-recent memory, and I don't get carsick unless other things are already wrong physically (in which case I'm miserable but not in danger of spreading the contents of my stomach all over the car--or whatever, you know). So I do enjoy the opportunity to just sit there, read or write or look out the window, and listen to my music. But yeah, after a while, you get totally cramped and sore.

Another thing you can do, regarding the flist--you can just show journals, but you can also set some communities so you're still a member but they never show up on your flist. I have almost all my communities set that way because I don't want them crowding my flist--especially icon and screencap communities since they fill things up so fast. Go to manage friends--you can just clear the check box for most of the comms you don't ( ... )

Glad you're back and had fun! (At least, a decent amount.) And a ski lift in summer sounds marvelous--I've always enjoyed them, even in the winter, when there isn't much to see.
