I'm humanity, and I'm good, right? So even if it's just you and me left, there's good in humanity.
I think.
If you'd like a good fic to recover with, look up Pancakes by Huinesoron on FF.n. It's the funneist Legolas crack-fic out there. It will cheer you up in a hearbeat.
I can give you the cookie, but I don't know about the other. I mean, if it's just the fic, you could read my newest fic. Again. 'Cause...it's just a repost and that. But still. Especially since--you probably saw this--one of the most recent mixes on fanmix was for Tom/Luna. Yes, that Tom and that Luna. I can't even comprehend it. I thought about it for a couple seconds and something in my brain just broke.
It's certainly possible. *cries* Emily and Teddy were divorced (and there wasn't any scandal about it, either, which there would've been, back then), and Ilse was dead, for no good reason I can find, and Emily had a daughter named Ilse, hitting square on one of my most bothersome pet peeves (next-gen fics in which all of the children are named after characters' parents/best friends/other important people, especially if they died tragically), and then Dean showed up, and he was written all wrong, and Emily had some Sue friend, and it was...TRAUMITISING, OKAY? *fetal position*
Oh, and let's not forget the one Dean-fic that might have been really good except for the implied Dean/Douglas Starr. Yeah. *whimpers* That is wrong on far too many levels to count.
BANUI. NO. YOU DIDN'T. Hold on. Breathe. You can do it.
It sort of sucks that most fic for LM Montgomery is written by preteen girls who have no conception of punctuation or grammar (or plot or characters or, like, anything else), doesn't it? :(
I'm re-reading Emily and longing desperately for a huge fandom--I wouldn't even mind Emily/Teddy Emily/Dean Emily/Perry Emily/Andrew Murray shipwars, er, very much, if a great brimming fandom came along with them. There's so much possibility, and no-one's writing it, and I certainly can't write it all. Why hasn't anyone written Douglas Starr/Juliet Murray? It's got elopment and Douglas is a journalist! Surely there'd be some sappy Suefic somewhere, right? What about younger!Dean fics? He's got siblings, hasn't he? Why is there no fic about his relationships with them? What about all the Murray backstory? (Er. Yes. As a rule, I am generally more interested in reading about things that didn't get much canon attention.)
I know! I know! I want fic about Dean travelling the world, I want fic about the elopement, I want fic about Elizabeth pushing Jimmy down the well and Priest stories and... eee!
Okay. Here's what we're going to do.
We are going to track down all Emily of New Moon readers, hold them at gunpoint, and make them write fic. And... *drumroll*... a fandom will be born!
Alternately, I could just write fic alongside of you, and even if we were the only writers in the fandom, um... it'd be worth it?
So my resolution is: write Emily fic! And keep working on that Dean mix!
And I will get back to you on that... tomorrow. Have to go for a sleepover now, we'll see how that goes. But I still have about a week of break left, and we WILL do this!
Oy, I'm all a-tingle with the possibilities. If the two of us were to attempt to fill the void, it would take the rest of our lives. Not a bad pursuit, though. Few writers have as much backstory and history as Montgomery does, and yet the fandom, such as it is, totally ignores it. Also, Dean is a canon bookworm. Which is just awesome. (I do, of course, subscrive to fanon!bookworm!Remus, but it isn't the same as if it were actual set-in-stone Rowlingness.) I'm just disappointed because he's a bit too early to be into Eliot. Dean would love Eliot. (Emily would probably like Edna St. Vincent Millay rather a lot, too. I suppose one could reasonably write Emily-as-writer-in-the-twenties + Millay fic, and I suppose one could even write rather!older!Dean + Eliot fic, but the latter wouldn't be quite as interesting as canon-timeline!Dean + Eliot.)
D'you have a gun? I've got a knife; don't know how well it'll work. :D *goes in search of reader-people to bother* Oh plagues, mind, stop coming up with crack-ships. No, just stop. The mental

There is still good in humanity. There is. (I can point you the way of nice Anne-fic, if you like.)
