some adventures and some banality

Well, I'm home again, the house is disgustingly cold (the floor is cold; I can feel it underneath my stockings), and I'm feeling restless and in need of a shower. Guitar lesson is tomorrow, which is a cheery prospect, as I finally have some new material to show off (I've just about finished polishing my musical rendition of John Donne's 'Song (Go ( Read more... )

Oh, American Girl! I have all the books (okay, so not me personally, but between me and my sisters, we own them all; I have the vast majority though!) and the Kit Doll! I became a member of the official American Girl club for my seventh birthday (gosh, that was ten years ago!), and we started our own Homeschool American Girl Club last time we lived here. I remember when we made mob caps from the Felicity books! I probably still have mine tucked away somewhere. I remember my friends and I had so many American Girl parties when we were younger. I met my pen-pal Sarah through American Girl. We've been pen-pals for eight years, and we still write each other often.

Gosh, funny how two words can bring back such memories...

Also, that Remus/Tonks mix I may have been angsting about recently? Is starting to come together. *aghast* But I still need "Different Stars", drat it!

As long as it also includes "One Moment More," "Breakdown," at least one Coldplay song (because. IT HAS TO. You know it), and possibly "Amid the Falling Snow" or "Run," I'm good. ^-^

It's got 'One Moment More' and 'Amid the Falling Snow', but 'Breakdown' doesn't fit into the accidental theme (which is...quiet, melancholy music), and I'd forgotten we'd put that one in the pile, anyway. (I'd've liked to have put 'Run' or 'Set the Fire to the Third Bar' in, too, because, you know, Snow Patrol = AWESOME, but unfortunately everyone else thinks this, too, and a mix with one of those songs shows up on an average of once a week. I'd like mine to at least try to have songs that most other mixes won't.) And of course it's got Coldplay. I don't think it's feasibly possible for me to make a mix without any Coldplay in. :D

It's got twelve songs on, now that I've got 'Different Stars' (YAY!), but it...doesn't seem quite finished. I don't know why. Maybe because the last track is sort of a bonus because only the chorus fits, and one track I'm not entirely sure about, and I haven't quite worked out the right order, either. Also, I'm looking for pretty fanart for the cover. Because fanart is cooler than movie!art.

Maybe 'cause...it wants "Breakdown"? :p

And shpff, I didn't come up with that one, you did. I listened to it recently and realized just how much it sounded like them:

"It's magic"
She says to me
My hand to her waist
She approaches sweetly.
It's enough, when I see
That look in her eyes
It's enough for me to paralyze

It's fragile
She says to me
The hair in her eyes
She removes it, smiling
There's a wound that I know this song could mend
A step in time for us, will never end

Okay, somehow I had entirely forgotten how that song went and got it confused with some other song, and if my mix hadn't all settled into quiet music I would absolutely use it. OMG ♥. [/fangirl](Well, and then I also have to use 'Golly Sandra'. Because it fits my interpretation of their overall relationship which was only mostly stolen from fernwithy perfectly.

(Also, there are still loads of Coldplay and Sixpence songs I'm afraid might not ever get used, alas. Oh, well, if you ever make a mix, you will have to use some of them. I already have two Sixpence songs in this mix. TWO.)
