Today was... drastically unplanned. Actually, that is the story of the last two days, really, I think -- last night I had to choose (with a gross amount of emotion that I hope I can ascribe to spiritual exhaustion + lack of meds) between going to a mall in another town with my mother and sister, going to my weekly coffeeshop open mic night, or ( Read more... )

Oh, honey, I'm sorry. :( I can kind of understand where your manager is coming from -- Red Robin has a very similar policy, to discourage people from pretending to be "sick" and then going to that concert for which they scored tickets and just not showing up. Restaurants are also a little needier than some other jobs, in that everyone else might die if they're one person short. (Okay, I'm exaggerating, but one person can make all the difference!)

In this case, though, I'm really surprised that, since you were injured and physically could not do the job, they were so unaccommodating. But no, it certainly was not your fault! I'm glad your day is over now, and I'm also glad you've decided to quit. It doesn't sound conducive to your sanity ( ... )

Oh dear! I hope your foot is feeling better, and I'm glad you had a great time at the play!

I can't remember the last adult fantasy book I've read, actually. (Oh wait, yes I can: Deathless by Catherynne M. Valente.) The point I was going to make still stands, though: somehow I've majorly lost track of where the good adult fantasy novels are hiding. YA fantasy will probably always be my favorite, but still.
