I posted this poem on Tumblr a while back, when I was paging through my World Poetry book and typing up things that caught my eye, and then I ended up reading it aloud to the poetry group that sometimes meets at the coffeeshop once a month (they used to meet once a month in the summer in the park; Dad and I went and Dad was almost the youngest ( Read more... )

Indeed! I'd just been wishing for something along these lines, and VOILA! They exist and are on clearance for two dollars! :D

Those are the BEST gloves I have ever seen. Keep them forever.

Heeeeee, I am actually putting them in my coat pocket every time I come inside so they will NEVER GET LOST. (And all the other gloves in the house have deserted me. SOB.)

1. I love that poem. It is kind of my life. (I'm almost sure I read some of his poetry in a class I took once, on Jewish-Hispanic relations, but we didn't read that one, alas. So thank you for it.)

2. You are adorable.

3. Those are excellent gloves. I've got a new pair of convertible mitten/fingerless gloves, but sometimes you really don't want to expose all your fingers like that!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I put my poetry book down and laughed half bitterly, half fondly for a minute after I read that.

I have a pair of convertible glove/mittens too, and they're really cosy and sweet, but the thumbs are cut off and there's nothing to pull over them, which is mostly all right for walking in the cold, but absolutely disastrous for bicycling, with all the wind whistling past my hands. And my iPod, which gets me through long journeys by foot, is touch-sensitive! :P

Yes--it's wonderful, in a far-too-familiar sort of way.

Apparently there are gloves with little special buttons sewn into the index fingertips, so that you can use your iPod without taking your gloves off. I think I'd be worried that I'd manage to rip the button off somehow. (I have strange non-talents; this is probably in the same category as narrowly avoiding walking into door frames.)

I am even more talented than you! I rarely avoid walking into door frames, and usually I end up with the doorknob stuck in my pocket at the same time.
