Ahem. I do not have my interests filled out for LJ, but I wouldn't mind doing the last half of this. ^-^

My interests are kinda low and sad and I don't have lots of icons, but I have enough to do this. Who knows, if people comment then I might remember that post that has been sitting in my drafts so long I had to delete it and start over for the thirteenth time....

Ditto on the Robin McKinely. I have to remind myself that the original Beauty and the Beast is NOT like the Disney version before the Beauty and the Beast inspiration can feel okay. Disney Belle was kinda whiny and feminist and bitchy. Nothing like Rae or Harry Crewe and their general awesome.

I got recommended Tam Lin a lot by someone who is not you! You love that book so much and so does someone else in my life. Happiness. :) Also yes tragic ships and Robin McKinley (Beauty and the Beast in Sunshine! why do I never process these things!) and I started reading Emily of New Moon and it reminds me so much of you I kind of had to put it down and make sure I wasn't reading something authored by Jolene, lol. Love it. So whimsical and bright and hopeful. Of course I'm not very far but still.

ALL OF YOUR ICONS. DONNA MARTHA HOLMES WATSON TONY PRIYA PRETTINESS MOTTOES. Oh that really is all of your icons. They're wonderful! Pick six of mine? Also seven interests. Intriguing numbers. ah memes I really want to do! :)

Aw, you. I *heart* this post.

And I love your take on "Tam Lin"--which is a favorite of mine, too, and keeps popping up in things I write as well (not all of them, but enough--and it's usually quite frustrating because I'm never able to get at why it matters to me, so it just winds up being a surface reference. But anyway). Plus:

Portrayals of empowered women whose empowerment comes through things other than traditional kickassery

That always gets a \o/ from me. Being good with weapons is a perfectly fine thing to be--but could we have more of a variety, too, in what we acknowledge as "kickass"?

Also, I can only watch DW season four up through "Forest of the Dead." (Okay, basically I only watch "Fires of Pompeii," the Sontaran episodes for Martha and companion bonding, and the Moffat two-parter.) After that, I can't pretend that the ending didn't happen.)

I need to do this. I also need to actually post on LJ more, update my interests, and fix up my icons...the day before my paid account runs out. Well, I need an excuse to renew it. >_Re: Reynardine, though, I can't remember if I've said this before, but it seems like it would be really easy to rewrite to fit your female Reynardine because, I mean, that first scene of Buffy, everyone's meant to think the little blond schoolgirl is about to get victimized, and then she turns out to be the vampire. From the ballad you've already got, it would probably be even easier to present it that way than to do a straight-up genderswap. I mean, the rake is already being...well, a rake, so maybe the sort of person a vampire-woman who can look innocent would like to prey on, and I'm pretty sure she's the one with ruby-red lips and pale skin and stuff. So yeah. Of course if you also wanted to use the current version of the ballad you could always say that as it was passed down, people kind of missed the nuances and thought the vampire Reynardine was the ( ... )
