the future

So, I got a rejection letter from Hampshire several days ago. Apparently I'd been waitlisted at some point, which was encouraging, although it would have been nice if they had let me know at some point ever, but the admissions filled up and I didn't get a place. Which was... weirdly freeing. I thought a college rejection would send me scurrying ( Read more... )

That does suck. I'm sorry to hear that. But - fingers crossed for Duquesne, it does sound very cool, from what I've seen! Also, fellow English major high-five! (Though I am doubling with history. However: still awesome!)

And, oh, JEALOUS, I want to get my hands on The Demon's Covenant so badly!

You have to get in! You simply must! I still haven't received my official acceptance into the University and am not sure what kind of scholarships I shall get, but...yeah. Here's hoping.

I don't know how much you are meant to be around the house during the relatives' visit, but I shall be over at the park probably during most of Community Days, either manning our church's booth (we're selling yummy food that will be v. inexpensive. you should lunch with us.) or passing out flyers for the Reitz, or just mucking about wreaking the occasional havoc. Point being, if you can, you should come and see me; if you DM me on Twitter it will go to my phone and then I can @reply you back. ^_^ Or, you know, you could just wander over and try to find me. :P

Oh boo, college rejection letters suck, but it sounds like you're dealing with it super-well & I'm really proud of you. And go you for being proactive and applying to Duquesne - I am keeping my fingers crossed for that!

(Yes, waitlisting is definitely way better than straight-out rejection, but hearing about it at the time would be even better! Oh, college admissions... Incidentally, what's the situation with you and Emerson at the moment - have I missed something while I've been away?)

*facepalm*

I swear, I read this entry three times to see if there was anything about Emerson, and it wasn't until I'd posted the comment above and gone back to the flist that the relevant sentence jumped out at me.

Reading skills, I has them...

I have no idea whether this will be a useful piece of information, but I was rejected from five of the six schools to which I applied. And the sixth acceptance came late. Sometimes the universe is silly and does not recognise our EXCELLENCE, more fool it.

Good luck with Duquesne. :) Although every life is different, not going to my dream school was one of the best things that ever happened to me, even if it took me til I was almost through college to realize it. (And I had similar desires to be rescued from certain things by said dream school ...)

Also, two hours is a good time cushion I think. Pittsburgh is an hour away from my family, and it is perfect, because you know--they're there if you need them, even though you're *away* from the place. That matters kind of a lot when you first leave, more than you can predict.
