So, I got a rejection letter from Hampshire several days ago. Apparently I'd been waitlisted at some point, which was encouraging, although it would have been nice if they had let me know at some point ever, but the admissions filled up and I didn't get a place. Which was... weirdly freeing. I thought a college rejection would send me scurrying

I don't know how much you are meant to be around the house during the relatives' visit, but I shall be over at the park probably during most of Community Days, either manning our church's booth (we're selling yummy food that will be v. inexpensive. you should lunch with us.) or passing out flyers for the Reitz, or just mucking about wreaking the occasional havoc. Point being, if you can, you should come and see me; if you DM me on Twitter it will go to my phone and then I can @reply you back. ^_^ Or, you know, you could just wander over and try to find me. :P

(Yes, waitlisting is definitely way better than straight-out rejection, but hearing about it at the time would be even better! Oh, college admissions... Incidentally, what's the situation with you and Emerson at the moment - have I missed something while I've been away?)

Also, two hours is a good time cushion I think. Pittsburgh is an hour away from my family, and it is perfect, because you know--they're there if you need them, even though you're *away* from the place. That matters kind of a lot when you first leave, more than you can predict.
