It is very chilly and slushy and grey but I have got Earl Grey and hats so things are mostly rather nice. Also I love the feeling one has after a very hot shower -- sort of cosy and soft and almost -- sore with comfort? I found myself delightedly thanking God for letting me be born into an era in which one can take long, scalding showers and needn' ( Read more... )

I wish I were the sort of person who doesn't have to worry about money and budgeting so much and could just buy whatever fits and looks nice instead of having to comb through discount racks for it.

me toooo. If I had money, I wouldn't spend it on expensive clothes--I would just love to be able to buy, you know, five new T-shirts in exactly the style I want, from, say, Old Navy, so then I could just not have to think about how I need new T-shirts anymore.

I can't recall a time that I've been able to actually go out and buy something when I need it (except for maybe when I had a job, and even then 'twas troublesome). And certainly never something at full price, beyond stockings and maybe underwear. Some day, when I am rich...

I was just thinking about how much I would love to sun myself, today. ::looks forward towards spring with longing::

hello, I am random! I found you through friends'-friends somewhere along the line and you seem really lovely and inspiring. I skimmed through and really appreciate your thoughts on faith, and your love for old-timey and throwback things. so I have friended you, hope you don't mind!

Oh Jo, I'm so sorry about your dad. I recommend sending a letter to your colleges explaining what happened - if you have "special circumstances," like a death in the family or a job loss, most schools will consider it when calculating your financial aid. That's what the guidance counselors at my school told us.

Actually, my mother went right in and altered my FAFSAs -- apparently you can edit them after you've sent them or something? -- to label Dad as a "dislocated worker", so. I'm glad that he gets to go to Virginia for a week: even if he's studying, it's still a break, and he's staying with very old, very good friends, so. Hopefully his reactionary crankiness will be sucked out of him before he gets back. :/
