ajjghergthjrt NaNo. If I could have a permanent status taped to my forehead (and I could, too, but I'd look a bit silly and tape's sort of itchy), it would, roughly, be that. But: I reached today's goal of 5,000 words (and then a little more!) before midnight, and this was very good, even if I had to put poor Mr Caruthers' life in shambles (again) ( Read more... )

mr caruthers' sordid past, nano oh help oh help, the needle and vinyl play, the astonishing adventures of me, the evangeline story, pen in my hand, foodstuffs, the writing life, family

I was cutting an apple to eat today, and opened the cupboard to realise that the person who'd last gone shopping had thrown away the list telling them to buy Nutella, and they hadn't gotten it. D: I was very sad. But then I found where our peanut butter was hiding so all was well.

Your parents are amazing. If I so much as eat after ten, my mom glares at me, eeeep.

Yes on Florence + the Machine! I hadn't gotten that yet (when I did, I already had it! /dances) and I just downloaded and listened to her cover Beyoncé's "Halo," and it reminds me why I love covers - it's here on my tumblr, you can sample or download. :3

heh Mr Caruthers. I was telling my roommate today about all the people in my life doing Nano, and how we'll do it one day when we can, and how some people don't start a new novel but revisit/keep writing others, or write multiple things all accounting to 50k words. and I said that because of Nano you'd invented your main character's love interest, which Mr Caruthers is more of, but it was an easy way to tell. hee.

Yay for baking after midnight! (Is there a better time to bake? I think not!)

(Also, your parents sound fantastic. I hope to be a parent like that someday. Hopefully I will have children that are also delightfully mad and not terribly embarrassed of me. ♥)

I am incredibly curious about your novel, do you plan on posting excerpts anywhere?

...and any music that turns life into your own personal epic sounds fantastic to me; I must get my hands on some Florence + The Machine (I love that song title, eee!).

Also: NaNo, yes. Arrrghhhhhh why did I think this was a good idea this year? D:

There is one better time to bake, and that is when nobody is at home. Which means NO ONE HAS TO KNOW THERE ARE COOKIES. *wicked laughter*

Re. The Novel: currently, the first two chapters are posted, friends' only, at balladrie. Friends' only, you know, cos it's my novel. Not that the final first two chapters will probably resemble the current ones all that well, but...

Florence + the Machine is lovely -- very, very English, and epic, and sparkly and loud and they have a harp, which pleases me immensely.

Bwahaha! Even better; keeping all the cookies for yourself is a noble goal. :D (Okay, maybe not noble, precisely... ;D)

I'm going to friend you with this journal and my writing-journal, if you don't mind! :D

Heee, these are all adjectives that appeal to me (epic! loud! sparkly!!), I think I must get my hands on their music! :D ♥

Doing things simply because you feel like it, regardless of time or place, is quite fun. I have not baked anything after midnight, but I have randomly made cookies at 10:30 at night because I wanted them for bed. As long as I clean up after myself and don't make too much noise, nobody minds. :P

When music gets really popular and hyped and whatnot, my brain tends to filter it out completely...

Oh yes - nor do I exclusively pick on music. Anything that is Too Popular immediately procures my indifference. It's just that, well...popularity isn't fun, now is it? ;D But! Florence and the Machine is rather fantastic. I've spent far, far too much time obsessing over "Cosmic Love" (I cannot hear that song enough).

I thoroughly approve of midnight cookie baking (and cookie hoarding!).
