in which i am unseasonably cheerful

I am beginning to feel as though I have done Evy's vampire wrong, because he isn't doing anything, either in what I've written thus far or in my head. I mean, except for this one flight of fancy, wherein I wondered if maybe Mr Caruthers gets misguidedly jealous of the vampire cos he and Evy are kind of secretive and she trusts him and stuff, and ( Read more... )

sheer and total madness, doing odd things to my hair, mr caruthers' sordid past, i have my own fun, geekery, the astonishing adventures of me, the evangeline story, in which i am very much a girl, photospam, the writing life, her clothing is silk and purple, job

Hi! So, you don't know me, but I've been following your journal for awhile because your novel seems fascinating and quite frankly, writing blogs are addictive for me - reading about other people writing inspires me to keep writing, if that makes any sense at all! :) Anyway, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind adding me to balladrie - what I've seen there already is wonderful and awhile back you mentioned you had the first chapter of your book there and after reading about your process so much I'd love to read it! I hope this comment isn't too incredibly long and creepy!

Hello! *waves* I have indeed added you; thank you for being interested! I blather on and on and on mostly to make sure I don't forget things, and because I have all this STUFF that I can't keep secret until I miraculously give birth to this thing and send it off into the world. :)

i always open up your posts in tabs to respond to, but then i have so much to say i never feel like i have the time to type it up! so briefly:

i worked two & a half blocks away from my house last year, & it comes highly recommended! my fingers are crossed for you. <3

lovely hair color, lovely photos, & lovely you. (and it is so cool that you have... an apple tree, yes? proper trees are one of the best things abt the country, that & stars.)

names ARE important-why else do storyteller girls with prosaic names always dream about changing them, to better reflect the garden of bright images in their minds & hearts? so i think you are right, & finding this vampire a name might help.

my resolve not to concentrate in celtic studies or folklore & mythology or any of harvard's similarly useless concentrations is weakening of late, and you are not helping, what with all this talk of gaelic & story & wonderfulness! *mock-displeased face*

...my definition of "briefly" is a bit different than most people's, i'm discovering. /o\

:DDD

I know! -- the apple tree was one of the first things that got me really excited about moving to this house. We are not terribly countrysidey, alas -- nor large enough to be a city (neither large enough nor small enough to be terrifically interesting!) -- and the photograph is carefully positioned so that you do not glimpse the city park, swimming pool, pharmacy, the town at large, Wal-Mart... (My backyard is on a very steep hill, so you can see pretty much everything from there.) But yes, proper trees are the best thing about anywhere! Our last house had two hundred-year-old ones on either side of the front sidewalk.

I PLAN TO MAJOR IN TOTAL USELESSNESS. \o/ IT IS A MOST EXCELLENT COURSE OF ACTION AND/OR STUDY. ALL THE COOL KIDS ARE DOING IT! and by cool I mean "me". and quite possibly wanderlight. ^-^

I PRACTICALLY MAJORED IN TOTAL USELESSNESS; WHY AM I NOT COOL ENOUGH TO BE INCLUDED IN YOUR COOL KIDS CATEGORY? -FLOUNCES-

(okay, so law school is arguably useful, but that does not mean I will use it that way SO THERE)

Ooh, your new color is absolutely lovely - you pull off red beautifully!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you in regards to the job - lucky you, getting to (hopefully!) work in an Italian restaurant and eat savory Italian things whenever you wish!

And I agree with dolique - I do think names are frightfully important, especially in stories, when they reflect so much of the character's purpose and personality. Though Gaelic and Welsh are both impressive languages, so I'm sure you'll come up with something perfect.

Thankee kindly (and hi, there you are; I was beginning to wonder where you'd gone off to! ^-^). I'm beginning to not quite feel myself when not a proper redhead... Comes of spending years with thick, lustrous, but unfortunately dishwater brown hair, I suppose.

Nice thing about Italian restaurant: delicious fresh and inexpensive bread! Om nom nom. :D

You are very welcome (...I'm sorry! Shame on me for disappearing right after introducing myself - like you, I've had a bit of an uncertain/chaotic job switch, but it's all settled now, so I should be back in LJ Land regularly again). Hee, dishwater brown hair may be my favorite phrase of the day (though I'm sure you pull off brown equally as well - you can't help it, you're simply lovely. But I completely understand identifying with a certain hair color. I think I'm too attached to my dark hair.

Oh, yes. I could live off bread, really. And Italian is especially perfect. ♥
