So, yeah, this is me, back from holiday. REALLY EXCELLENT HOLIDAY. Will discuss this later, but there are much more pressing matters at hand.

First, the non-spoilery bits: so, I'm really really glad that the night of the twenty first turned out to be the best night of the festival and possibly one of the best nights of my life -- guys, Nickel Creek ( Read more... )

Glad you're back and it went well.

So sorry about HP. *pats* It's too bad about Trap and Carissa too. I mean, it was so nice and then... *crackles*

Oh, and I have a question about Dr. Who. I just finished season 1, and Laura and I are trying very hard to figure out how it's the longest running show in England is it's only four seasons or so long. And Wikapeadia said it has 24 seasons, or something like that. We are confused.

Dr Who isn't a new show; it died a couple of decades ago after a very long life as a regular feature of the Beeb, and was then regenerated a couple of years ago. Somewhat paradoxically, the new series were numbered from one to avoid confusion, and obviously failed...

What Anthony said. :D It started in the sixties and ran all the way through the late eighties before finally being cancelled, and then the BBC revived it in 2004. I mean, since the Doctor can regenerate and everything, it could conceivably go on forever. Pretty much the only show ever that can maintain a fanbase while changing the entire cast every several years. :D

OOH, THEN WILL YOU JOIN RITA AND I IN ATTEMPTING TO BUILD A FANDOM FROM THE GROUND? AND ALSO WRITING FIC BECAUSE THERE IS ALMOST NONE OF THAT? (NOT THAT EITHER OF US HAVE ACTUALLY FINISHED ANYTHING, BUT, YOU KNOW. IT'S A CAUSE IN PROGRESS.) YOU DON'T DRAW, DO YOU? I HAVE AN IMMENSE INSATIABLE CRAVING FOR WATERCOLOUR PAINTINGS OF DEAN READING IN CARAVANS AND THINGS.

WAIT, FANDALEKS WERE INVOLVED? GORBLIMEY. WHAT HAPPENED, REMUS AND TONKS WERE SAVED BY THE POWER OF THE MCGANN? (ACTUALLY THAT IS NOT A BAD IDEA, ALTHOUGH THE THOUGHT OF REMUS AND EIGHT OCCUPYING THE SAME SPACE COULD CAUSE SMALL EXPLOSIONS. YES, THE THOUGHT ALONE.

I HAVE JUST WRITTEN AN ENTIRE COMMENT IN CAPSLOCK. OH DEAR.

I was going to wear black, but I forgot. Tomorrow is Saturday, so it's a week to the day, so -- perhaps I shall start then. Also I have seriously thought of tying a black ribbon around my arm for the next month or so.

...wow, I really don't have a life. Excellent. ;D

Hullo! I love meeting new people, so it's nice to meet you, too! Your username doesn't happen to come from a ballad, does it? Only I heard one recently with 'oh, the wind and rain' as a refrain which was very excellent. *is sort of a ballad nerd* :D

I'm listening to it just now, actually -- 'Wind and Rain' by Crooked Still (cannot seem to find lyrics online). It's one of those cheery ballads about a girl whose sister drowns her because she wants her man, and the drowned girl gets made into a musical instrument in the end, after floating along for some time. In this version, it's a fiddle, but Loreena McKennitt's 'The Bonny Swans' is a variant of the same story, with a different refrain, and she ends up as a harp in that one. (Personally if I made instruments I would not make any bits of them out of finger-bones, but perhaps that's just me!)

CONSPIRACY. COME JOIN THE CONSPIRACY. WE WILL RIGHT THE UNIVERSE USING THE DOCTOR'S TARDIS, AND SNATCH THEM AWAY AT THE LAST MOMENT, AND THEY WILL LIVE IN A HAPPY PLACE WHERE THEY WILL BE ... HAPPY.

My fandoms, like yours, are all rather tragic. Even our Emily fandom is, when you consider it from a Dean standpoint anyway. (Slightly related, but what is your LotR OTP?)

I am glad that Sally Sparrow travels in space too, because she deserves far more screentime than she got. Y.

But the Doctor doesn't like Remus. ...Oh, wait, no, that's T.S. Eliot. Because he and Sirius and the Doctor may have been partially responsible for blowing up his parlour and Sirius attempted to clean out his larder. Remus is sort of devastated because he dreamed for years about meeting Eliot and having a nice chat about Arthurian legends and Sanskrit and Shakespeare over a nice cup of tea, and now his idol sort of wants him in prison. [/crack]

ANYWAY CONSPIRACY YEAH. I LIKE CONSPIRACIES. I HAVE A WHOLE HEAP OF THEM; IT'S LOVELY.

Emily's Quest isn't a terribly happy book, either -- I always feel slightly drained after reading it. Not in a bad way, exactly, but in the way I do after having written something very emotional. And of course we've got to centre in on the most tragic character in it; oh dear. (GO AWAY FIC. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT EXCEPT THAT YOU'RE FULL OF ROMAN NUMERALS AND PROBABLY INVOLVE EGYPT OR SOMETHING. ARGH. GO NAG SOMEONE ELSE ( ... )

Okay, so hang on. Eliot doesn't like Doctor-Remus-Sirius because ... Sirius tried to take his food ... and then they all blew up the parlour. But oh! Remus, Remus. I am sorry that Sirius and the Doctor ruined your dream. Sirius especially has a tendency to do that. *hugs Remus*

BANUI, I BET YOU HAVE ENOUGH CONSPIRACIES TO FILL A FILING CABINET OR TWO.

Yes, that's true. It's ... well, there's Emily's accident, and then everything about Teddy, and then Dean -- it always breaks my heart to read the last scene between Emily and Dean, and sometimes after reading it I feel like there cannot possibly be any happy endings in this world. CARRY ON FIC, YOU'RE DOING A V. GOOD JOB OF PRODDING BANUI. SHE'S A WONDERFUL WRITER YOU KNOW, AND ONLY THROUGH HER WILL YOU TRULY BE REALISED IN PRINT.

Aha! I'd guessed something like that. Aragorn/Arwen = ♥, though.

I think I had better finish The Silmarillion -- started it once about five years ago; gave up -- because you & Noldo & Allie & co. keep referring to things out of it and I have no idea what's ( ... )
