I learned recently that it's not uncommon for people to have kinesthetic memory of something, as opposed to audio/video memory (and, er, olfactory memory?). I thought this was interesting. By kinesthetic memory, are you referring to muscle movement?

That's part of it, though the particular discussion I saw was about PTSD. People described having flashbacks that were memories of physical feelings--no sound or vision, which is what most people assume a trauma flashback entails.

Yepyep. I can do most of my Kung Fu forms while thinking of something else entirely at this point.

This makes sense. When I was taking piano lessons, and would have to perform at a recital, I would often get very nervous while playing, and forget which notes I was supposed to play next. My hands, however, just kept on playing.
