This says almost as much about Aragorn as it does about Boromir, for Aragorn shows that he is not immune from a very human tendency to judge, but he is flexible too, prepared to admit to himself, as little by little, other aspects of Boromir are revealed to him, that this is a more rounded character than he first imagined. A very poignant scene.

Read this several times - agree with Alex Quine re: Aragorn starts out judgmental but learns to respect Boromir. In doing so he finally starts to grow as a man leaving behind elvish ways that will have no place in Gondor.

What I love about Tolkien and his work is that - for the writer - there is always another angle, another glimpse, another way of seeing things, another twist in the tale to be teased out and worked on.

Lovely piece thank you.

Thank you for this thought-provoking piece. As the others say, it illuminates both Aragorn and Boromir - but also, perhaps, Denethor?

I think this might be the best thing you've written this month, babe. It's a truly great character study - not just of Boromir, but of Aragorn as well, and how the quest has changed and shaped them both.

Great job with this!!!
