Summary: McMurphy doesn’t need therapy to realize what she lost.
Word Count: 190

She doesn’t need therapy to tell her the ways that the war damaged her. Or how her upbringing damaged her. She knows all the ways that she was damaged. And therapy isn’t going to heal those wounds. The only person who did and could, is no longer in her life, and McMurphy still wonders what would have happened if she had just given in to the feelings that she knew both of them were feeling. When she feels this way, she drags out the shoebox that holds the few keepsakes from that period in her life that she wishes she could just forget. The picture is torn and faded but she still looks vibrant in the picture, full of life despite the shit she had to deal with. And McMurphy wonders what would have happened if she had kissed her when they were together that one night, would things have changed or would K.C. just have laughed at her and pushed her away as she accused her of being drunk.

McMurphy doesn’t need therapy, all she needs is that lost moment with K.C. so she could change their lives forever.
