I like the idea of Max wanting to forget. I can totally see it, especially after the events of S2.

It burns going down and for one terrible moment she thinks that it’s going to come right back up.

I think that towards the end of the series, the writers hinted that it was overwhelming for her. Or at least that's the impression I always got.

That's exactly how I feel when I drink it but I love the stuff.
