Moving Through the Silence Summary: Dean dreams again.
Word Count: 300
He can’t remember falling asleep but he knows without doubt that he’s dreaming. And for once, he’s not having the nightmares of Sam dying over and over again. He’s not helpless and unable to save his brother. Instead he’s in a nightclub where the music is so loud that he can’t hear a thing, not even Sam shouting in his ear.
His beer tastes flat but that doesn’t stop him from taking a long pull of it. The DJ seems to be fond of the strobe lights and the colours of the club have faded away with the bright flashes of light and it seems as if all of the dancers on the floor have moved without really moving. It’s surreal and slightly creepy, and he’s pretty certain that whatever brought them to this club isn’t here. Maybe that’s what Sam is yelling into his ear.
And then he sees her. She stands out in the colourless world on the dance floor. Her red leather pants seem painted on and her crimson lips seem to beckon to him. He drops the beer onto the table and he moves away. When his brother tries to stop him, he mumbles something incoherently at him (it’s not as if Sam’ll be able to understand him over the noise.)
He tries to move to her but it’s as it’s like walking through syrup and for every step forward he makes, it’s as if the distance between them has increased. He wipes the sweat away from his brow as he takes another step, and someone pushes into him. She turns and turns on the dance floor, a flash of crimson against the black and white strobe lit world. And he can hear Sam yelling at him but the throbbing base line eats up Sam’s words.
