general grousing

I took some pictures on the way to work this morning, but Photoshop isn't cooperating. I've never had any trouble with it before, but today it just won't open, even after restarting my computer.

last night was spent not tidying the house or washing dishes or laundry or planting, as had been planned. I did go to a store to get some annuals, though ( Read more... )

I really hate the 5 plants in a 6-pack thing. I've usually got my annual buying very heavily budgeted, and it bugs me when I buy a whole flat of something, thinking I'll have just enough to fill in the (insert number here) blank spaces in the perennials in the front beds, only to find out I'm 6 or 8 plants short when I get home.

I'm not doing annuals in the beds (and doing only minimal weeding) this year though--the neighbors are just going to have to live with it. There are only so many things I can do in a week, and rearranging my house in preparation for Seedling's birth is taking priority. Also, crawling around on the ground is not particularly easy when you're as pregnant as I am.

yeah, I hear ya. I'm just glad I was all by myself out amongst the flowers so I could really switch things without feeling weird about it. especially since several of the things I was switching didn't have anything to grab to get the dirt out of the little pack, so I'm standing there shaking the stupid thing upside down to get the dirt to come out, while holding the good plants in.

I didn't do any annuals last year, and it's unlikely I'll worry about them all that often. sure, flowers throughout the summer are great and all, but planting them requires time, effort, and often money. I'm usually in short supply of at least two of those things. =) I'm making hanging baskets for our patio this year, to be pretty for the party, though. well, hopefully they'll be pretty.
