i have been away from livejournal for such a long time. there were times when i thought..."ugh i really should post..." but the longer i stayed away the harder it was to jump in with something new when i have been m.i.a. for so long. i feel like a terrible friend and apologize to all the amazing people on my friend list. if you haven't gotten rid ( Read more... )

i think it's only for photos... i need something like that (a free host) but or files as well like css docs etc...

tried it. i thought it would save all my probs. but now they don't allow direct linking unless you upgrade and pay for a premium account.

damn i should just cave and get a credit card. :(

you can try www.ripway.com for you css docs :) i use it and it's just fine :) and it's free ;)

heyyy welcome back, i've just returned to livejournal... longass hiatus that was majorly necessary.
anywho i've been using http://www.ripway.com to host my css (well, one of your old free layouts actually) for livejournal. and it's decent, i mean i don't use it at all except for that one thing haha. it gives you 30mb free storage.
and i find flickr great for having all my art in one place.. and it gives you links if you want to post images. i really like flickr, it's so cute.

i like flickr but sometimes i want to post pics that are private and i think all flickr images are public.... ?

well i know you can make pictures private on flickr, so that either ONLY yourself can see the image, or so that friends on your flickr contact list may see it. but if you don't want anyone on flickr to see an image, but lets say you want to post on lj... i'd probably use photobucket for that.

i think everyone on my friends list (including me) has taken a long hiatus from LJ.
it doesn't bother me because people have lives & if i make LJ that important, what's wrong with me, you know? LOL

if you need a subdomain to host your stuff, or if you already have a domain name and just need a host, i can help you out. i've got quite a bit of room still, how much space do you think you'll need?

oh man i agree. there was a time i was on lj 24/7 then i just stopped. work and other things got in the way. it was great to take a break from this... but now i want to take a break from that and come back to this... ? lol

i have no domain/place to store stuff. i just want somewhere where i can host some css for my layouts, icons, photos... and i may want to create a small page where i can make a gallery later on of my photos/collages. just a one or 2 page site. really small stuff... i feel so guilty asking for space from people, which is why i am trying to find an alternative and try to get some free space. it's just darn hard finding good free hosting sites... but i hope i will prevail! or i'll cave and fiiiiiiinally get my own domain which has been overdue. do mind me asking what kind of prices are out there, what you pay for your own domain etc.? i wouldn't know where to begin... dreamhost.com?

well, I got my hosting through Reseller Zoom, not because I have lots of people to host or even want to sell space to, but simply because it offered a boatload of space. I was paying $19.95 for 30GB of space through Design Kitten, but through Reseller Zoom it was triple that for $6.95 and unlimited everything. Unfortch, they have seriously cut back on that plan for new users, but it's still better than anybody I've seen so far. I still get all my goodies for the same price.

as for domain names, the cheapest place right now is http://cheap-domainnames.com/ for $1.99 -- can't get cheaper than that!

I really do have tons of room though, so if these other places fall through, let me know and you can have your own space on the interweb free. :)

wow 1.99 holy... but i'm sure there is a catch.. like one time set up fee and crap like that. sounds like you got a good deal in time though! i really should educate myself on such things... i recently learned about FTP when wooed was hosting me. i had no idea how to get my stuff up on the net!
