for a couple of lessons in legal writing, they made us the counsels for the Queen in Snow White, who was charged for attempted murder. they gave us the original version of the story as our fact pattern, which talks about how the queen was jealous of snow white's beauty, and how snow white was more beautiful than the queen by the time she was 7 ( Read more... )

you should check out neil gaiman's rendition of snow white, told from the pov of the queen. its daaaamn scary cos snow white's some vampiric girl :/

because it was explicitly said that she was more beautiful than the queen at the age of 7! all the classmates i mentioned this to were in denial. like, "uh, maybe there was a long lapse of time before the mirror replied, like 15 years?" haha.

yar but like when she got the apple choked in her and all, and she went into a deep sleep, the story says time passed. it doesnt say how many years what.. so considering that time is relative in fairy tales, and furthermore the time in normal circumstances in fairy tales is already relative right, so supernatural time in fairy tale will therefore transcend what we consider logical progression.. so therefore by the time the prince came along she could have been 16.. and thus legal. and anyway they were legal at what.. 14 in the old days. so actually haha give the poor guy the benefit of the doubt!
