(((HUGS))) for the worsts!

Funny how I've never really thought about what it would feel like not to be on a top ten list -- perhaps because the process (which still hasn't ended, of course) of finding an agent and/or editor has been so trying (and quite discouraging), I find myself thinking I'd be shocked if a book I actually did get published would find its way onto any favorites list.

I hope 2011 brings you much joy, Jackie! And I hope I get to meet you person, someday :)

It is funny how these things go, because I remember seeing another author mention how this time of year was a little painful for them because of the top 10 lists and I remember thinking, "But that person has several books contracted and they seem to be doing well and they've won some awards!" and blah blah. Well, here I am and now I totally get it. It never ends, gosh darnit.

I know I'll meet you in person someday! I hope it's sooner rather than later.

I love reading these sorts of posts, and this one is especially lovely. The cuddly new kitties! So cute! Though of course you still miss Tacy.

I got Revolution, The Twin's Daughter, & Harmonic Feedback for Christmas, and now I'm extra-excited to read them!

I suppose it would be sad if I completely stopped missing Tacy anyway. But you know.

Enjoy your new reads!!!

Oh! Magic Under Glass was totally on my "best books of 2009" list.... that I never posted. I have it as a draft in my gmail. I will make an effort to actually post it at some point. I'll post it when I list up my faves of 2010, which should be super short and easy to do, because my whole year was basically pregnantpregnantpregnantBABY! Better late than never?

The picture of the new kitties snuggling is so sweet. :)

Well, the funny thing about the lists is that one is never satisfied anyway, I imagine, unless maybe you have one of those few books that are on everyone's list, and then maybe you are overwhelmed with other anxieties. But I still get sensitive. It really all just hits on the fear that I won't be able to keep being published, I think, and that probably goes for a lot of authors. But I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I don't blame you for being a bit busy for best books lists! =D

Congratulations on what sounds like an excellent 2010! I hope 2011 brings you even more good things!

I read once about Aquarius people that they are liked by everyone, close friends with no one, and I feel that has always been true with me, and...well, sometimes it kind of sucks.

I feel this way quite often too (and I am also an Aquarius!) -- I am grateful that I do have my husband and my best friend (former college roommate) but I feel sometimes like I just can't figure out how to make new friends now that I'm out of college. I think you're right about needing to reach out, and cheers to you for doing so!

The curse of the Aquarius! (I'm actually a Capricorn, but barely, and I have a lot of planets in Aquarius, so I still think it applies to me.) I am glad to have Dade and my family. But... Yeah. I actually have made what I thought were good friends in the past, and sort of had my heart broken when they stopped pursuing the friendship. I feel like all the romantic issues some people have that I thankfully avoided ended up just getting transferred to my friends instead.

I love that picture of your cats hugging. My two new ones love each other but my older one still doesn't like them. She hisses and hits them at every opportunity. If only she knew the fun she could be having if she'd just learn to like them. Ah well...

If it makes you feel any better, while I posted a list of *all* the books I read in 2010 and not just a top 10 (because that would be too hard for me to pick), I did bold all my favorites. And yours was not only the first book I read last year, but the first one to get bolded. :)

I was worried that would happen with my boy cat, but he is starting to get along better and play with the new girls. I don't think he'll ever be involved in a picture like the above though! But it's a nice change from Tacy and Oskar hissing at each other all day.

I am glad you liked Magic Under Glass! Although, truly, I am insatiable with praise and the best thing one can do is learn to distance oneself from it...
