It's no secret graphic novels are one of my favorite mediums. In fact, maybe my #1 favorite medium. Shh. Don't tell plain old text books. I can't do them myself because they take so darn long, but I LOVE art and pictures together, when done well

have you read Umbrella Academy, Jackie? I just ordered a nick and dent of the first pb vol.
I missed JKR on Oprah, mostly because I was away from TVs but also because I thought it would be annoying to watch O. interview her. What were your fave parts?

It WAS annoying to watch Oprah interview her. More than I expected, even. It wasn't anything that surprising, but I just think she's wonderful to listen to... I'm fascinated to hear her talk about the burdens of money and fame. I liked that she compared money to magic...people think magic in a story solves everything, and it shouldn't, and people think money in real life solves everything, and it doesn't. I found it fascinating that she still doesn't feel entirely safe financially, like she could blow it somehow, and that she will still try to choose between things and realize she can have both. I think I'd feel the exact same way in her position, but it's nice to see. You can really tell she's still just an ordinary person who's been at the bottom and is really still gobsmacked by her wealth.
