The Guardian has an article about the past 75 years of Desert Island Discs. For Americans and others, the idea is that you're shipwrecked with 8 records, 3 books (you're given the Bible and the complete works of Shakespeare), and one luxury. That is the one Murakami I really still need to read. I even have owned a copy basically since it came out in English and just have never gotten around to reading it!

I've started it a couple of times, and loved what I read, but for some reason, if another book comes up, I'll put it down and not pick it up again for months. I figure a desert island with few choices means I'd finally finish it. Unlike Ivanhoe which I think I'd still fling from me on page 68 no matter how few books I have.
