It's never occurred to me that being a conscientious objector needed to be tied with religion. (Although, for clarity's sake, I don't think I've never thought about this specific term; I just know that I would not be able to fight for the same reason as you: I don't think there's a cause I'd find that's worth killing over). It baffles me that people think that one has to believe in a high power to not believe in killing others.
