I had an interesting experience with one Craigslist position today. It required no text in the body of the email and specific file name templates for the CV and the cover letter. I think the instructions, which were at the bottom of the announcement, were a filter to see how many applicants actually read the announcements in their entirety ( Read more... )

Because of the kind of people I have for friends, I for a long time thought that the "good communication skills" I saw in all those job descriptions was a null phrase. Eventually, I got enough experience to realize how rare they are in the general population. "ability to read and comprehend" is much the same.

Yeah. Working with the unemployed in DC has really opened my eyes to some of the "null phrases" that aren't really null.

I figure I have a shot...
