Resume Question

Should I include being an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner on it? It's a public position, but it's also unpaid.

ETA: Thank you all for weighing in. It looks like I'll be adding Commissioner to my resume...

Yes, definitely. It not only reflects on your skills and experience, but is also a tacit reflection on your character -- you're civic-minded and willing to give of your time for the benefit of the community.

If the skills you used as part of the job would assist in the job you are seeking, then yes.

I would say yes. It's not uncommon for resumes to list (or even have a section separate from regular employment) with volunteer/unpaid work too.

Definitely include it. It could tilt things in your favor.

Good luck!

I have my volunteer leadership positions within my church listed on my resume. I know employers aren't allowed to ask about religious affiliation, but I feel the leadership and the duties I had there are important, plus the committee leadership ties in with the sort of work I think I would like to do in future. So I say definitely put civic volunteer positions on there.
