LJ removing accounts

May 30, 2007 20:26

hi there,
i try to keep my ranting down to a minimum, but this is important.

In response to a bunch of anti free speach idiots, the people at LJ have been deleting accounts (yes, you read that right. DELETING, as in gone.. as in data lost forever)

now while Lj certainly has the right to delete accounts, the idea is that they would be fair, maybe tell ( Read more... )

banned, lj, maintanance

I think the big thing is, we shouldn't have to. LJ is getting keyword crazy. They deleted and really dropped the ball this time. Badly.

I have over 5,000 entries (I'm a wordy bitch) I think it's really dumb that this witch hunt has me backing up a journal that I shouldn't have to because I pay for a service I should be able to trust.

I'm infuriated that LJ refuses to remove Nazi hate groups and Nazi propoganda blogs by individuals but has gone after these communities!

ARGH! Double standard much, Frank???

Even WORSE than a double standard, because most of these folks were completely innocent of any wrongdoing!

Assholes.

Well, to be fair, and balanced, Lj/6A went on a tear over the possible encouragement of possible illegal actvity.

As the ACLU has shown over and over again, the NAZI morons have as much rights in any specific forum as the rest of the world with general access to that forum.

I'm glad they do.

The only weapon against speech I hate is BETTER speech, and more of it.
Better reasoned, better argued.
Point out the NAZI morons for being idiots, but do it cogently and politely.

Report possible pedophile admissions of guilt to police, however.

Don't go on a mass suspension wave.

6A's lawyers got scared, and their marketing department got scared when WFI and perverted justice took it to the advertisers and threatened 6A's income.

Just like CBS and Imus.

Not to play the devil's advocate here (and keep in mind that I'm one to jump on with a good rant) they had good intentions and have openly admitted that they made a mistake. It was a knee jerk reaction to a flurry of comments somone outside LJ made and now they're trying to fix it ( ... )

WFI's rampage and threats to go to LJ/6A advertisers weren't the only pocket pinch they feared - 6A is thinking about an IPO.
